Wowi Zowi Malawi

Just writing the name
Malawi,
as in The Malawi's Pizza,
is making my mouth water!

You might be thinking, "Africa and pizza? Not sure about that." The metaphor is fitting here at Malawi's Pizza, which uses the slogan "Pizza with a purpose" and donates the cost of a meal for an orphan in the southeast African nation of Malawi every time you make an order.

We Lunch Ladies love that! They had so many different variations.
It is sure to please the pickiest of eaters!

Cristine:  "I had been wanting to try this place for a while. So I was excited to go, but a little hesitant because I was bringing my young daughter with me who has many diet restrictions. I wasn't sure what I would be able to give her to eat. Normally I cook something up ahead of time and bring it with me to places like this. I was pleased to see they offered gluten free dough, as well as original or whole wheat. I ordered the gluten free and it was wonderful! I could not tell a difference. Which, if you have ever tried gluten free anything, it usually tastes like dirt. I also got the walnut-berry salad. Mmmm, my mouth is watering. I was late so I only got to try a tiny portion of the dessert pizza. Oh. My. Yummy goodness. I have been wanting to go back ever since!"

Down Here in Lunch Lady Land

    Welcome!
Is our first official post about our first official ladies lunch!
Each month our group of ladies will be reviewing a new/different restaurant in the
    Utah County/Salt Lake County areas.

The Restaurant we chose to launch our lunch was
    Milagros
(It is located off of 800 North in Orem. Across from Winco Foods)

We have devised a rating scale to help you decide if Milagros is the place for you.
1- the worst slop that has ever touched my lips
5- average food, don't really care if I visit again
10- please, oh please, let me lick the spatula!
    Food 5.74
    Atmosphere 7.86
    Service 7.79
    Cleanliness 9.00
    Value 6.86
    The Coke 6.79
Our overall rating of our first experience at Milagros
    6.36
So, if you are looking for slightly above average Mexican food, head on over.

Cristine: "I can usually judge a Mexican restaurant by their tamales. If they are made fresh or if they made a failed attempt. I figure this place wasn't really authentic because tamales weren't even on the menu. A little disappointed Milagros!! So, I went safe and ordered nachos. The platter that was brought to me, could have fed most of my subdivision. I had their green sauce, pork and black beans, along with the guacamole (a little upset with the non- homemade guac too!) Overall, I was happy with my nachos and what my $10 bought."

Viv:  "Well, this wasn't my favorite Mexican Restaurant.  It was just OK.  They gave you a lot of food for the price, but I think I would rather have less and have it taste better.  The coke was terrible.  The ice had some chemically treated taste to it, so it tainted the drinks.  I don't think I will be going back. "
